Election Commission accepts govt's stance on matter of party tickets
Election Commission had asked for party tickets from candidates till 11th of September.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Election Commission on Monday accepted the government’s stance on matters pertaining to political party tickets.
According to the details, Election Commission had asked for party tickets from party candidates till 11th of September. The Punjab government, however, expressed its reservations to the Election Commission in this matter.
Election Commission will be allotting election symbols for local elections to independent candidates on the 1st of October. Punjab government had expressed a stance that the act of demanding party tickets from political parties before scrutiny should be stopped.
In light of this, candidates of the government’s political party will be able to start their election campaign from 11th of September while all remaining candidates will be able to start their election campaign from 1st of October after electoral symbols have been allotted.
Spokesperson for the government of Punjab stated that the Election Commission while acknowledging their position had accepted the government’s stance.
Election Commission will issue official instructions regarding this in a few days.
