Five carriages of the train went off the track

SUKKUR (Dunya News) – As many as eight people have injured after at least five carriages of the Bolan Express went off the track due to crack in Dadu Canal bank.

According to the details, the express was on way to Quetta from Karachi when it met an accident near the Ruk Station in Sukkur due to a crack in the canal bank. The crack weakened the rail track making a hole beneath it.

Railways Divisional Superintendent (DS) Sukkur Farrukh Taimoor Gulzai reached the site along with the rescue teams an hour after the accident. At least 520 passengers were travelling to Quetta and eight of them were injured. The injured people were shifted to hospitals in Habibkot and Lakhi Ghulam Shah after initial treatment.

However, the irrigation department has provided a tractor to fill the hole to avoid more damage. The DS said that the water gates of Dadu Canal have not been closed so far despite contact with the authorities at Sukkur Barrage.

Railways Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malik Ateeq said that normally officials are present who check the rail tracks to avoid unfortunate incidents. The authorities said that the injured people would be shifted to Quetta after treatment.
