Summary Crew members were released because of airline’s special protocol agreement
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Five crew members of Pakistan International Airline (PIA) arrested in United Kingdom (UK) for smuggling twenty thousand pound cash have been terminated from job, Dunya News reported.
According to sources, five crew members of PIA have been terminated for severe violation of international laws other than smuggling cash.
Those terminated are identified as Sadia Butt, Fareeha Mumtaz, Flight Steward Ahmed Khan, Flight Attendant Awais Ahmed Qureshi and Tauseef Ashraf.
PIA spokesperson said that all five crew members have reached Pakistan and additional measures have been taken to ensure such incidents don’t take place again.
Additional measures include strict checking of the staff at all airports in the UK. The reports said that twenty thousand pounds cash was recovered from the crew and they were arrested under Anti-terrorism act.
The police carried out investigation after keeping the crew in custody for six hours.
The crew members were released and let-go from the UK because of the special protocol agreement of the airline.
The Pakistani High Commissioner played a key role to secure the release of the arrested staff members.
