PM Nawaz inaugurates launching of Metrobus
Metrobus would be constructed in Multan as well, said PM Nawaz
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif said on Thursday that the launch of Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metrobus will benefit the populace of the twin cities. He said that the students will be major beneficiaries of the project, reported Dunya News.
Talking to an audience that consisted of ministers and high ranking officials, PM Nawaz said that Hanif Abbasi and Shakeel Awan had given masses the gift of Metrobus even though they were not elected by the people of Rawalpindi.
Highlighting the importance of the Metrobus for students, PM Nawaz said that parents would be able to send their sons and daughters in peace knowing that distance to their institutions would be shortened and the mode of transport is safe and comfortable.
Praising the transparency of the project, PM Nawaz said that not a single finger can be raised at the Metrobus.
Appreciating the short time span taken to complete the project, PM Nawaz said that projects in the past took 30 odd years to complete yet the Metrobus project had been completed very rapidly despite sit-ins in the city.
Outlining future plans, PM Nawaz Sharif said that Metrobus would be constructed in Multan as well. He said that a mass transit system would be introduced in Karachi as well.
It is pertinent to mention here that Islamabad has 14 metro bus terminals whereas 10 stations have been made in Rawalpindi. Only Rs 20 would be charged on 20 km of travelling.
