LAHORE (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday dismissed a 24-year-old petition against Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif seeking his disqualification for having assets abroad through money laundering and declared it inadmissible, Dunya News reported.
The petition was filed in 1991by Barrister Javed Iqbal Jaffery in which he stated that Nawaz Sharif should be disqualified from his office as he had illegally shifted billion of rupees abroad.
Full benches were formed on this plea from time to time however, the bench were dispersed due to the retirement of judges or Supreme Court’s (SC’s) reference.
A five-member larger bench was formed by Chief Justice LHC Manzoor Ahmad Malik this time which was headed by Justice Farrukh Irfan.
