Democracy without 'murder for sake of God' won't solve problems: Munawar Hassan
Munawar Hassan said that 'engineered elections' cannot bring true democracy
LAHORE (Dunya News) – Jamaat Islami (JI) former chief Syed Munawar Hassan on Saturday said that democracy alone can’t solve problems unless culture of ‘Jihad for the sake of God’ and ‘murder for the sake of God’ is promoted, Dunya News reported.
Addressing Jamaat’s gathering in Lahore, Hassan said that the current circumstances warrant promotion of ‘murder for the sake of God’, adding that people are afraid to use these terms openly but, he said, democratic politics alone won’t resolve issues.
He said ‘good politics’ will win and democracy will be effective only as a result of ‘murder for the sake of God’.
Munawar Hassan said that ‘engineered elections’ cannot bring true democracy and that a long struggle will be needed.
