The government issued arrest warrants on advice of 'naïve friends', says JI chief

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq has said that negotiations between Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the government would be successful and that ‘naïve friends’ of the government advised it to issue arrest warrants of PTI chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri.

JI chief expressed these views while talking to the media after meeting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser at the Islamic Centre on Saturday.

Qaiser discussed the current political situation of the country and affairs of the KPK Assembly with the JI chief.

Haq urged the government to take practical measures to implement the clauses upon which it agreed during the negotiations.

He said that the leadership of the government and PTI want to resolve the matter but the government has not announced the negotiation team yet.

He also said that ‘naïve friends’ of the government advised it to issue arrest warrants of Khan and Dr Qadri.

On this occasion, Speaker Qaiser further said that if he was the Speaker of National Assembly, he would have verified the resignations of the members by calling them one by one.
