PM Nawaz has no other option but to resign, Imran Khan said.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk / Agencies) – Thousands of anti-government protestors led by Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan will hold sit-in on Kashmir Highway today (Saturday) around 3:00pm, Dunya News reported.

Imran Khan posted an update on Twitter regarding venue of the sit-in:

PTI Azadi March reached Islamabad from Lahore after travelling more than 300 kms in over 35 hours.

Addressing his thousands of supporters in Islamabad amid rains early in the morning, Imran Khan announced to stage a sit-in from 3pm today till Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif s resignation.

On the occasion, Imran Khan said "I am not derailing democracy because there is no democracy in the country. We will not go away till Nawaz Sharif resigns."

Senior leaders of his party and workers also echoed the same sentiments when they chanted "Go Nawaz Go" slogan.

The rain and journey took a toll on Imran Khan who had not slept for 40 hours, a PTI leader said.

According to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, Imran Khan was suffering from high fever. He asked the workers to pray for Khan s quick recovery.

The protests were festive despite the rain, with demonstrators waving national and party flags and dancing to drum beats and patriotic songs.

Exact numbers for the march have not been confirmed and organisers said they expected a clearer picture once all of those who joined the rally congregate in Islamabad.

The protests pose the toughest challenge for PM Nawaz, who won a landslide election victory in May 2013. Khan says the general election that brought Nawaz Sharif to power was rigged.
