Death toll in Abbas Town blast rises to 48
The death toll in Sunday’s deadly blast in Abbas Town in Karachi has risen to 48.
According to the initial reports prepared by investigating authorities, Abbas Town blast in Karachi has many similarities with Hazara Town blast in Quetta.
The explosive material used in Abbas Town and Hazara Town blasts was similar. According to investigators, fire erupted after both explosions.
According to initial reports, remote control or mobile phone was used in Abbas Town blast.
According to bomb disposal squad, 150 kg explosive was used in the blast on Sunday in which 45 were killed while three seriously injured persons died on Monday, raising the death toll in Abbas Town blast to 48.
The blast was so severe that it created a four feet deep and 10 feet wide crater. Dozens of injured are still under treatment at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, Patel Hospital, Jinnah Hospital and other nearby hospital where condition of several injured is stated to be critical.
