(Web Desk) - Pakistani singer Sajjad Ali has trolled Patari for making a comparison video between him and Momina Mustehsan for his song Har Zulm Tera Yaad Hay.

Yesterday, the music portal Patari posted a video on their Facebook page making a comparison between the two singers of their singing of the song. The video was titled, ‘Ultimate face-off between Sajjad Ali and Momina Mustehsan’. The music portal did not even hide their intention of making fans of both artists clash, and added a hashtag, #patariteeli, in the caption.

The song in question, written by poet Aftab Mazhar, was originally sung by Sajjad Ali and was released in his album, Koi To Baat Ho, in 2002. Momina Mustehsan on the other hand, who rose to fame just recently with her Coke Studio debut in season 9 of the show, recently came up with a cover of this song on her Youtube page.

It goes without saying that the cover of any song cannot match up to the original, and one can be sure that Momina Mustehsan did not intend to portray that she came up to the level of Sajjad Ali when she covered the song. But Patari still decided to pit the two artists against each other, one who has been singing for more than three decades, and the other who has been professionally singing for a little more than half a decade.

As expected, responses from followers of the page were not positive. Fans severely criticised the page for making a comparison between the artists, saying that Momina was no match for Sajjad Ali.

But the highlight of the moment was when the maestro himself jumped into the fray. In a comment heavily loaded with sarcasm, the singing legend congratulated team Patari for this ‘intelligent post’.

Sajjad Ali’s fans responded to this comment with delight, with many commending the artist for coming down hard on Patari and being ‘savage’.

Not surprisingly, one could not see any comments in support of Momina. It can be presumed that Sajjad Ali did not intend to criticise Momina for her cover, but his comment was aimed at the carelessness and immaturity of the Patari team for making the comparison. However, some fans did not see it this way, and directed their criticism at Momina and her singing capabilities. Yet, some even pointed out that it was unfair to pit Momina against Sajjad.

It seems that it really was not fair to make the comparison as it put Momina on the receiving end of severe criticism that was uncalled for. When someone covers a song, it is their tribute to the original artist behind the song, not a challenge. We’re sure Momina did not intend to make a comparison with Sajjad Ali when she came up with the cover.
