Sarmad wins 'Best Actor' award for Manto at Indian film festival

LAHORE: (Web Desk) – Sarmad Sultan Khoosat has on Friday won the ‘Best Actor’ award for his film Manto at Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) 2016 in India.

The film made on the life of one of the greatest Urdu fiction writers Saadat Hassan Manto was also screened at the opening of the festival and shocked the audience watching it at the festival.

It was the 8th edition of the festival and Sarmad’s movie was screened at the event’s opening on January 2 along with Amitabh Bachan’s Piku. It was also awarded with the ‘Best Sound’ and ‘Best Editing’ awards at the festival. Piku also won Red Rose award at the event.

152 films were showcased at the event. These included 35 feature films, 17 documentary feature films, 58 short movies, 17 documentary short films and 15 short animation films.

Sarmad also thanked the fans on this occasion in a Facebook post.
