Sedition case filed against Aamir Khan over intolerance remarks
The charges were made by Advocate Manoj Kumar Dixit.
NEW DELHI (Web Desk) – A sedition case against Bollywood actor Aamir Khan was filed on Wednesday in a session court of Kanpur over his intolerance statement.
The charges were made by Advocate Manoj Kumar Dixit according to whom the actor’s anti-national statement amounts to sedition.
The case has been filed under IPC section 124 A (sedition), 153 A (promoting enmity between different groups on religious grounds) 153 B (Imputations) and 505 (statements conducing to public mischief).
The Kanpur sessions court announced that the hearing of the case will be held on December 1.
Earlier, speaking at the eighth edition of the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards, Aamir Khan stated that he was alarmed at the growing communal tensions in the country and his wife was worried about children’s security. He said that his wife had suggested him to leave India.

"When I go home and talk to Kiran (Aamir s wife), for the first time she says, Should we move out of India? " Khan said.
This statement angered the extremists so much that they came out on roads, protesting against Aamir Khan’s harmless statement, and surrounded his house.
In Patna, extremist Hindus burnt Aamir Khan’s posters and dummies, raising slogans against the ‘PK’ hero.
Besdies this a leader of Hindu nationalist political party, Hindu Mahasabha, also suggested that the actor either leave India and go to Pakistan or should convert following his anti-India remarks.
On the other hand, renowned actor Arshad Warsi and singer AR Rahman came out in favour of the actor and stated that Aamir has said nothing wrong and against the country. Both the artists termed the reaction as unjust and immoral.
