LAHORE (Dunya News) – A woman was allegedly assaulted by her husband and his friends in Lahore’s Defence area for refusing to dance in front of them

The victim, who was identified as Asma Aziz, told that she was brutally tortured by her husband Mian Faisal and his friends with pipes. She told that she was held down by a servant while her husband shaved her head.

The woman added that she managed to escape from the house and reached a police station, where she was asked for money. She said that her medical checkup was also not arranged due to lack of money.

Asma had performed love marriage with Faisal four years ago. 

In a message on Twitter, Minister for Human Rights confirmed that police has registered FIR and two suspects including Faisal have been arrested. They have been under booked under sections 337-V and 506.

The minister said that medical report of the woman is awaited.

In a statement, Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi said: "It is responsibility of the state to provide protection to daughters of the nation. They are not abandoned."

"The government would ensure their complete protection in the society," he added.

Shehryar Afridi said it was mission of government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to empower the women segment and ensure respect and honour to them.
