The smuggle of drugs from Afghanistan to Punjab was failed by the customs intelligence

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Customs department seized narcotics worth over 10 million rupees near Nowshera and failed the attempted smuggle from Afghanistan to Punjab.

According to reports, customs intelligence conducted a raid on smugglers when they were transporting the drugs. A check post with contingents of law enforcement forces was setup at Amangarh Bridge.

A mysterious jeep was stopped and upon checking, it was discovered that the vehicle contained 65 kilograms of opium as well as 35 kilograms of heroin. The narcotics hidden in secret compartments of the jeep were seized by the customs department.

Names of several districts of Punjab were mentioned on the packets of drugs, implying that they were to be smuggled in those cities. Customs department estimated the net worth of these drugs in the international market to be around Rs 12.5 million.

Customs intelligence registered FIR against the suspects and launched inquiry into the crime.
