Vehicle theft continues unabated in Lahore

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The vehicle-lifting has been a long-time problem for the people in Lahore with the car-thieves stealing hundreds of automobiles every year, reported on Saturday.

According to report prepared by provincial government, as many as 1097 cars have been stolen while 49 were snatched in 2015. Talking about bikes, 4750 motorcycles were looted whereas 602 were grabbed by the criminal groups.



The report stated that 224 cases of car robbing have been lodged in first two months of the current year while 828 FIRs were registered for the motorcycles theft.

The police personnel stated that three to five cars are being lifted in the metropolis while four to five are being recovered on daily basis.

They said that a strict action has already been launched against the culprits on the directives of Chief Minister of Punjab (CM) Shahbaz Sharif.



Checkposts at various points have been set up and by matching the engine number with the record provided by the authorities, the officers precede further investigation.

Police have busted a gang of bike-lifters and recovered the stolen vehicles from their possession.
