Summary CTD arrested target-killers after search operation in different areas of Karachi

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Karachi police on Thursday arrested 2 alleged target-killers involved in murders of 41 people. Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested the suspects after search operation in different areas of Karachi, reported Dunya News.

According to Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) of CTD Junaid Sheikh, arrested suspect Shahid Qadri has confessed killing 17 people. Junaid Sheikh further told the media that the target-killer had a gang of 4 accomplices named Ahmed Hussain, Shafique, Nadeem also known as Bacha and an unidentified woman. He said that the gang was involved in many crimes including robbery and target killings.

In another operation, CTD police arrested Adil Baloch who is accused of 24 target-killings, from Dalmia area of Karachi. The SSP said that Adil Baloch was trained by the banned militant organization, Baloch Liberation Army, and he was wanted in crimes like extortion, kidnapping and target killing.

Rangers on Friday has apprehended a target killer belonging to a political party who was involved in at least 57 murders in an operation in Gulshan Mamar area.

The Rangers acted on a tip-off and raided Gulshan Mamar. A political party’s worker named Moeez Saleem was arrested in the operation. Rangers spokesperson said that Saleem was involved in murders of as many as 57 people. A local court has given the criminal in Rangers custody for 90 days.

The apprehended criminal was wanted in killings of two Rangers personnel also. The felon had opened fire on Rangers and police mobiles several times.

In an operation in Saddar and Manghopir, two target killers were arrested who were involved in police inspector Nasirul Hassan’s murder. The personnel seized LMG, three Kilashnikovs and two repeaters from the criminals’ possession.

Separately, police and Rangers personnel have arrested at least 41 suspects during search operation in different areas of Karachi in the early hours.

The raids were conducted in Orangi’s Chishti Nagar, Nusrat Bhutto Colony in North Nazimabad, Sultanabad and Muhammad Goth areas of Manghopir on a tip-off regarding presence of criminals and members of banned outfits.

Nine suspects were held in Chishti Nagar and Nusrat Bhutto Colony while another 23 suspects were arrested dfrom Muhammad Goth and Sultanabad areas. They were shifted to undisclosed location for interrogation.

According to Rangers, five suspects belonging to a political party were also arrested from Liaquatabad area. Another two men were detained in Shah Faisal Colony area.

Karachi, a sprawling city of roughly 20 million, has long had a reputation for high crime rates as well as ethnic, political and sectarian violence.

But the violence has fallen significantly since 2013 after police and paramilitary rangers launched a targeted operation in the metropolis.
