Can fix Hafeez's action in one month, claims Saeed Ajmal

The off-spinner said ICC is targeting Pakistan bowlers only.

LAHORE (Daily Dunya) – Spin wizard Saeed Ajmal has offered his help to fix Mohammad Hafeez’s bowling action and claimed that he can rectify the problem in just one month, Roznama Dunya reported on Monday.

The veteran said that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should take steps to ensure that International Cricket Council (ICC) stops ruining the careers of our bowlers. He also hoped that ICC will not treat Pakistan bowlers with discrimination in future.

The off-spinner said ICC is targeting Pakistan players only as the bowlers from India, Australia and England with suspected actions get away very easily.

Ajmal continued that he was helped by former greats, Saqlain Mushtaq and Mushtaq Ahmad three years ago when his action was declared illegal, and he is available to help Hafeez now.

Let it be known that Mohammad Hafeez had been slapped with suspension for illegal action on Thursday after he failed to clear the bowling test.

The 37-year-old Pakistani all-rounder was found to exceed the 15-degree level of tolerance enforced by the International Cricket Council. This was the third time in last three years that Hafeez had been suspended from bowling in the international cricket.

He was reported for suspect action during third ODI against Sri Lanka played at Abu Dhabi on October 18. Hafeez had underwent a test on November 1 as he was told to participate in an assessment to check his bowling arm within 14 days and the results confirmed that he violated the ICC regulations.

In accordance with Article 11.1 of the ICC Illegal Bowling Regulations, Hafeez’s international suspension will also be recognised and enforced by all National Cricket Federations for domestic cricket events played in their own jurisdiction. However, pursuant to Article 11.5 of the Regulations and with the consent of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Hafeez may be able to bowl in domestic cricket events played under the auspices of the PCB.

Previously, in 2014, he was reported during New Zealand Test in November and the suspension for illegal action came after just one month. He remodelled his bowling action in the April of 2015 and ICC cleared him to bowl afterwards.

However, his career was dented yet again during Sri Lanka Test in Galle as he was reported for suspect action within a short span. The results during assessment confirmed his action exceeding the 15 degrees limit and as penalty, he was suspended from bowling for 12 months. He had made a comeback in bowling this year until now.
