Sri Lanka see 'unusual' Koththigoda in U-19 Asia Cup as future prospect

(Web Desk) – Sri Lanka have pinned their future hopes with Kevin Koththigoda, the unusual chinaman spinner who bewildered the critics with his bowling action in U-19 Asia Cup.
The promising talent who bowls right-arm spin looks spinner to South African player Paul Adams who was a left-arm wrist spinner. Koththigoda has been Sri Lanka’s top pick for the tournament taking place in Malaysia in which only Asian under-19 teams are participating.
He left an impression in Afghanistan match during group stages and has performed well in the games so far. Koththigoda has also played a match against U-19 team of Pakistan. He picked one wicket in the match while staying economical throughout. However, he couldn’t defend the low total posted by his team.
The teenage talent was raised in Unawatuna, southern province of Sri Lanka. He began his career playing in Galle Cricket Stadium. Apart from bowling spin, he also bats a bit and considered a good fielder in the side.
Such bowlers have often made their way in international cricket as well as domestic events. Shivil Kaushik was one such bowler introduced in the Indian Premier League and played from Gujarat Lions.
