I have to do my best to target him, Amir reacts to praise from Kohli
The Pakistani pacer was overwhelmed after star Indian batsman praised him during TV show
(Web Desk) – Fast bowler Mohammad Amir reacted to the much hyped praise from Virat Kohli during chat on a TV show, saying “he has to focus and do his best to get Kohli out”.
It was reported that Indian skipper Virat Kohli had singled out Amir when asked who he thinks is the lethal bowler around these days. Kohli responded, "In recent times, Mohammad Amir of Pakistan.”
“(Amir) is in the top two or three bowlers in the world and one of the toughest bowlers I have played in my career.”
The 28-year-old star batsman praised Amir saying one has to be one his “A game” when facing the left-arm pacer. “(If the batsman is not focused) he will strike. Outstanding! Very good bowler!” Kohli said in an Indian TV show.
The focus of media shifted towards Amir to know his reaction on the latest remarks from Kohli. He responded to Indian media admitting, “The world knows Kohli is the best. You have to give your best against him.”
The 25-year-old pacer recalled how Kohli took the game away from Pakistan in the Dhaka Asia Cup game, and suggested that teams should not give away chances to get out the star batsman in the start of his innings. Praising the right-arm middle order batsman, he added, “So I have to focus and do my best to target him. He has the best strike rate and average while chasing so he is also the biggest challenge for bowlers around the world.”
The attacking player believes cricketers become better bowlers after performing against batsmen like Kohli. He was overwhelmed with the praise and responded with similar remarks. Virat Kohli is one of those players who had welcomed Amir in the international arena after his spot-fixing conviction and ban.
Amir had been on his top form during ICC Champions Trophy 2017. He took the valuable wicket of Kohli in the all important India final. Under Sarfraz Ahmed’s captaincy, Pakistan then went on to win the trophy.
Meanwhile, Amir has returned from the injury received during second Test against Sri Lanka for which he was dropped for the ODI series. He is in for the T20 series against Sri Lanka.
