LAHORE (Dunya News) – Former Test cricketer Moin Khan, who was fired by the Pakistan Cricket Board in 2015 as the chief selector of the national side, is likely to return to the governing body as manager of the team after the Sri Lanka tour.

According to sources, Pakistan cricket team manager Talat Ali has informed PCB that he will be unable to perform his duties with the national squad owing to personal reasons after the ongoing series. It has further been learnt that Moin Khan, who was also awarded in the previous brief tenure of Najam Sethi as PCB chief, is the strongest candidate to replace Talat Ali as team manager.

It is worth mentioning here that after the casino scandal in 2015 World Cup, the then PCB Chairman Shahryar Khan summoned Moin Khan and informed him that his services were no longer required. Moin was told the committee did not want him to continue as chief selector. The casino controversy was not mentioned during Moin Khan’s meeting with the PCB chief.

The former chief selector was spotted at a casino during the tournament. The PCB decided not to take any action against Moin Khan but did state that a new selection committee would be formed after the World Cup.
