Pakistani pacer hasn't taken part in training camps at Gaddafi Stadium and awaits complete fitness

(Web Desk) – Injury has made Mohammad Amir’s inclusion in three-match T20 series against World XI doubtful, according to a report on CricTracker.

The Pakistani pacer, who is part of the squad finalised for matches against World XI, has been suffering from back injury which he sustained during a country game against Somerset while playing the season from Essex. Failing the fitness standards, Amir has not yet taken part in the ongoing training camps at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

The 25-year-old player has remained on top of his game during County Championship Division. One of the memorable performances was when he took a 10-wicket haul against Yorkshire and took his team to victory.

Named player of the month in NatWest T20 Blast, Amir won matches and hearts for his sublime form in the English country season. He celebrated his performances by writing a message for his fans on Twitter, “Shukar Alhumdulilah for being player of the week and player of the month will continue my hard work but would always need ur prayers.”

Although Amir had expressed his excitement over the return of international cricket and foreign players with World XI tour, his fans are eagerly waiting for the final approval of his inclusion amidst fitness woes. World XI will play their first T20 match against Pakistan on September 12 under the captaincy of Faf Du Plessis. Under Sarfraz Ahmed’s leadership, the victors of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 will go head-to-head with the star-studded opposition including Imran Tahir, Hashim Amla, Morne Morkel, Ben Cutting and others.

Other players who missed the camp include Shadab Khan and Rumman Raees. The former was playing CPL and the latter had taken days off for his wedding. Both are expected to join the training camp soon. World XI squad under coach Andy Flower will arrive in Pakistan on September 11.
