Pakistan leads the three-match Test series by 1-0

(Web Desk/AFP) – Pakistan wins the first Test against West Indies by seven wickets in the three-match series. Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq hit the winning six as the visitors were chasing a target of just 32 runs.

Any expectation of Pakistan knocking off the required runs swiftly were ended by the dismissals of Ahmed Shehzad and Azhar Ali in successive overs.

Shehzad edged a catch to wicketkeeper Dowrich off Gabriel while Ali played on to Joseph, leaving the task to be completed by the veteran Younis and heir apparent Azam on the resumption.

Misbah was the top scorer in the fourth innings with 12 runs. He struck two sixes of Devendra Bishoo after Younis Khan departed in LBW dismissal. The skipper scored an unbeaten 99 in the first innings and help post a good lead of 121 runs as Pakistan scored 407 runs against West Indies  286 runs.

The victory wouldn’t have been possible without Yasir Shah who picked up six wickets in the second innings against the hosts while giving away just 63 runs. It was his ninth five-wicket haul in the Test career.

Debutant pacer Mohammad Abbas picked three wickets in the match and showcased his talent.
