LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan’s most successful Test skipper Misbah-ul-Haq has on Thursday announced his retirement from Test cricket, reported Dunya News.

The Test captain declared this decision while talking to media at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore and said, "The series against the West Indies is my last series." He also let it be known that he was under no pressure to retire and is satisfied.

As per details, the Test series against West Indies will be Misbah’s last international tour as the 42-year-old had already retired from Twenty20 and one-day international (ODI) cricket.

Misbah took over the captaincy in the wake of an international spot-fixing scandal in 2010 and led Pakistan in 53 matches. Under his leadership, Pakistan won 24 of them, lost 18 and 11 ended in a draw. Misbah has a winning percentage of 45.

It was also under his captaincy that Pakistan became number one Test team in the world despite playing no matches at home due to the prevailing insecurity.

"My cricket journey was very good... There were many hardships in my career but for now I am focusing on the present situation," he said Thursday.

"The series against West Indies is a good opportunity to bring the team back on the winning track."

Misbah will lead Pakistan in the Tests, the first of which starts in Jamaica on April 21, the second in Barbados on April 30 and the third in Dominica on May 10.

Misbah-ul-Haq further added that he will continue to play domestic cricket and other leagues for a while.
