Virat Kohli receives India's fourth-highest civilian award

NEW DELHI (Dunya News) – Indian skipper Virat Kohli recived country’s fourth-highest civilian award Padma Shri on Thursday at Rashtrapati Bhavan, reported Dunya News.

According to details, the award was given to Kohli by Indian President Pranab Mukherjee owing to his wonderful performance not only as a batsman, but also as a leader.

It was Virat Kohli who took his side to number one in Test rankings after taking over the captaincy from Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

There were eight other sportspersons along with Virat Kohli who were bestowed upon by prestigious Padma Shri including hockey captain PR Sreejesh, Rio Olympics bronze medalist wrestler Sakshi Malik, gymnast Dipa Karmakar, Paralympians Mariyappan Thangavelu and Deepa Malik, discus thrower Vikas Gowda and blind cricket team captain Shekhar Naik.
