Azhar, Younis maintain positions in ICC top ten Test rankings

DUBAI (Daily Dunya) – International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced new Test rankings after Pune Test between Australia and India, and Pakistan’s Azhar Ali and Younis Khan have maintained their positions in ICC top ten Test batsmen.

As per details, Azhar Ali holds seventh spot in ICC Test rankings for batsmen with 779 rating points and Younis Khan is ranked eighth with 772 rating points.

Australia skipper Steve Smith has further widened the gap at the top of the table with 939 rating points to his name, passing Gary Sobers, Viv Richards and Kumar Sangakkara who all share 938 points, after wonderful century against India in second innings of Pune Test. Smith has also achieved career-high rating points which is sixth best ever after Don Bradman (961), Len Hutton (945), Jack Hobbs and Ricky Ponting (both 942) and Peter May (941).

India’s Virat Kohli is 66 points behind Smith with 873 points. England’s joe Root is at third spot with 848 rating points.

When we talk about Test rankings for bowlers, only two Pakistani cricketers are in top twenty. Yasir Shah holds seventeenth place with 649 rating points and Wahab Riaz is nineteenth in the rankings with 579 points.

India’s Ravichandran Ashwin maintains his top spot with 878 rating points followed by Josh Hazlewood (860) and Ravindra Jadeja (860).

Ashwin also tops the all-rounders category with 447 rating points. Shakib Al Hasan (440) is ranked second and Ravindra Jadeja (371) third. Mohammad Hafeez is the only Pakistani in ICC top twenty Test all-rounders holding twelfth spot with 166 points.
