PCB likely to change Test captain despite Arthur's concerns

As per PCB sources, players over the age of 35 are at hit list this time around.

LAHORE (Daily Dunya) – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has taken the decision of changing both Test and one-day international (ODI) captains after poor Australia and New Zealand tours.

According to sources, PCB has informed Test Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq that it does not include him in its future plans, however, the ultimate decisions is to be taken by Misbah himself. It is also expected that if Misbah-ul-Haq calls it a day then his services will be taken to improve domestic cricket.

Azhar Ali is also likely to be sacked as ODI captain due to poor performance by the team as well as himself. PCB is planning to appoint a new captain for the West Indies series. Azhar Ali was criticized strongly by former cricketers and media, and that is also a major reason behind this decision. PCB itself wants to restrict Azhar Ali to Test cricket only.

It has also been found out that PCB has request Younis Khan as well to complete his ten thousand Test runs in the upcoming series against the West Indies and leave the team in order to give chance to youngsters.

As per PCB sources, the board plans to implement changes after the poor team performance every time, but players over the age of 35 are at hit list this time around.

However, Pakistan head coach Mickey Arthur has opposed PCB’s decision of changing Test and ODI skippers simultaneously. Arthur has asked PCB to let the same captains play West Indies series, as changing them will have serious impact on the team and situation will get out of control.
