PCB names players participating in training camp ahead of England tour

Shahid Afridi, Umar Akmal, Ahmad Shehzad ditched by the selectors

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday announced the names of the players who are part of the national team and the A-team who will be taking part in the training camp organised ahead of the tour to England in June 2016, reported Dunya News.

Names of various key players have been dropped from the 35-member squad, including Shahid Afridi, Umar Akmal and Ahmad Shehzad. Mohammad Hafeez s inclusion in the squad has been subjected to his fitness whereas Imad Wasim has been reported to have issues with running.

The players who have made it into the squad include Mohammad Amir, Rahat Ali, Imran Khan, Sohail Khan, Wahab Riaz, Junaid Khan, Hassan Ali, Sarfraz Ahmed, Rizwan, Adnan, Yasir Shah, Zulfiqar Babar, Imad Wasim, Bilal Asif, Zohaib Khan, Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shoaib Malik, Asad Shafiq, Babar Azam and Haris Sohail.

While addressing a press conference in Lahore, Chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq stated that the selection committee is independent and will make choices on its own. He added that “we need to give a chance to the younger players”, further stating that a harsh policy has been introduced in regards to the team’s discipline. Inzamam said that no player above the age of 30 will be included in the A-team on the basis of the new selection policy but if a player performs well then he may be included in the side.

Inzamam-ul-Haq said that the team’s bowling performance has been exceptional but the bowlers were unable to give their very best in recent matches.
