Summary Sena extremists had stormed BCCI s headquarters in Mumbai

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Shaharyar Khan has said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday has offered to play a series with Pakistan.

The PCB Chairman announced the move by the neighbouring side today in a press conference.

He said that the Indian board called on the Pakistani authorities and tabled an offer to hold a series. However, he said that to play series in India is something he is unable to understand given the inhospitable situation there.

He said that BCCI has offered to play matches in Mohali and Kolkata.

Khan said that Pakistani team has security issues in India. He said that PCB wants to stick to the agreement as the cricket board would lose money if it does not.

However, he said that PCB would take a decision after consultation with Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif.

Earlier on October 19, Khan had visited India for talks with the cricket board on its invitation. However, extremist party, Shiv Sena had besieged the office and protested against Khan s arrival.

Sena extremists had stormed BCCI s headquarters in Mumbai.

Sena members had carried saffron and black flags symbolising their hatred against Pakistan and cricket series with the neighbouring country. The talks had to be postponed for a day while venue of the meeting was also changed. The PCB Chairman was shifted to Indian capital for talks later on.

International Cricket Council s (ICC) President Zaheer Abbas had condemned the environment for cricket in India and said that politics should never be mixed with sports.

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Indian board never approached the ministry concerned over series with Pakistan.

It should be mentioned here that an agreement bounds the neighbours to play at least six times between 2015 and 2023. The last time India hosted Pakistan was in 2007 whereas Indian team last toured Pakistan in 2006. Tours from both the sides saw Test series in consecutive years.
