Pakistan signs 75,000 tonne LPG import deal with Iran
Imported LPG would definitely help curb energy crisis to some extent, states association
KARACHI (Dunya News) – All Pakistan LPG Distributors Association and National Iranian Company have signed an agreement that entails import of 75,000 tonne LPG within a year, Dunya News reported Tuesday.
The agreement is the first one after sanctions on Iran were lifted by the United States (US). At least 6,000 tonne liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) would be imported from Iran every month for a year. Association’s president Irfan Khokhar stated that price of imported LPG would be in lines with price in the local market.
Khokhar also said that imported LPG would definitely help curb energy crisis to some extent.
Pakistan also signed a historic gas deal with Qatar this year. Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif and Petroleum Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had visited Qatar and met counterparts there.
