KARACHI (Dunya News) – Furnace oil price has reduced by another Rs 2,000 per tonne giving way to likelihood of power tariff’s revision, Dunya News reported Monday.

Imported furnace oil price is stagnated at Rs 24,847 per tonne from the previous Rs 26,886 per tonne. Revised price of local furnace oil stands at Rs 28,806 from previous Rs 30,181 per tonne.

It should be mentioned here that furnace oil has seen price cuts worth Rs 20,000 in ten months of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2015-16.

According to National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra), electricity produced by furnace oil is cheaper in cost than that produced using gas. Experts are of the opinion that power tariff is likely to become even people-friendly in light of the revised prices.

It should also be noted here that the government has reduced average Rs 2 per unit under fuel adjustment plan in the current fiscal year.
