Mobile phones and cars worth Rs. 54 billion were imported during first 6 months of financial year

ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Mobile phones and cars worth Rs. 54 billion were imported during the first 6 months of the current financial year, reported Dunya News.

According to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the import of mobile phones during the first 6 months of the current financial year (2015-16) remained at Rs. 39 billion with an increase of 11% while the import of cars increased by 34% and remained at Rs. 15 billion from July to December, 2015.

A total of Rs. 54 billion have been spent on the import of cars and mobile phones during the first 6 months of the current financial year. Financial experts say that the government, on one hand, is trying to augment the foreign exchange reserves while the economy is suffering a loss worth billions of rupees through import of cars and mobile phones on the other hand.
